I've been expecting Babies for months until finally it's released here days ago and of course I had to watch it. It's a documentary of the life of four newborns in four different countries, Namibia, Mongolia, USA, and Japan, from their birth to when they were one year old. Never have I smiled so much, almost every minute of it, during a movie before this one. Expect nothing but excessive cuteness and photographic beauty. Although I have to say there's one point in the movie that makes it feels a bit boring. I agree with the critic who said, "Babies is a joyous celebration of humankind that's loaded with adorable images, but it lacks insight and depth."
But, what makes me ponder further is the fact that we human kind are raised in different ways. I always say that race is overrated because one can't choose to be born in certain skin. I hate the fact that there are these basic boundaries that prevent further correlation between human being, namely race or religion. But this movie reminds me that how we were raised defines what we are now, and it is all the differences that make human human.
ps. I'm in love with Bayarjargal, the Mongolian baby. Well, who doesn't..
