The premise of the movie is somehow brilliant. Human being stop aging at 25. Right when they turn 25, the clock on their left arm start counting down. They have one more year to live and will have to earn more to continue on living. The idea of using time as the tool of trade is intriguing. You can be immortal or you can time yourself out whenever you want.
And that condition is set on the world which are separated in time zones. People who live in the Ghetto, those who struggle to live day by day, pay with two hours of your life for a bus ride home. On the other extreme there's New Greenwich, where the rich live. People have decades and centuries on their hands. Plus, there are the Timekeepers act as the "policemen".
With that brilliant idea, I was expecting a more sophisticated plot and screenplay. It could actually be as brilliant as that Benjamin Button movie where they built the plot from an irrational fantasy but it was so well executed it turned out believable. This one here was so disappointing it ended up only as a nice watch average hollywood movie. Although the premise is still so strong it left a spot in my mind to keep pondering on: what if we really live base on the time we earn? Will we fight that hard to live? What would I do if I were that easy to time myself out?
