It's true, the more you expect the less you would get, the less you expect the more you'd get. I underestimated Assisi since before I got here in Italy. I thought, oh it's just a small town happened to be located not so far from Perugia and it's the birthplace of the famous St. Francis. No biggie. But then when I got to Assisi I was stunned. The views were breathtaking. The streets were cozy. Everything were just so pretty around me.
I was there for
Calendimaggio, an annual festival of re-enactment of Medieval and Renaissance life. The city center were so lively, people walked around wearing sophisticated costumes, the props were amazing. I didn't get to see much of the main event, the battle between upper and lower faction of the city, but pretty much it's like
this, yep, that awesome. Even kids and babies also dressed up.
