rīga, vidzeme.

i stopped by riga on my flight from copenhagen to helsinki. around 12 hours i was in town, almost 6 hours of it i spent at the airport, the rest i spent exploring the city center. took the earliest bus from the airport around 5-6am, i arrived in the almost empty city center. it is said that riga has the most complete old town in europe because of their effort of restoring it after the second world war. while it is much appreciated, well i didn't know whether they're the parts that were restored later, but somehow i felt like some parts of the buildings look rather fake.

one thing that i noted when i was there is that the cloud was moving so close to the roof of the buildings as if it's just there right above your head. little thing that i always appreciate. aside from that, from my very short visit, there's nothing really special about riga although it was a pleasant walk around the city center. if only they treat the waterfront a little bit better it would be much more of a wonderful stay.
