didn't had much time to stay and enjoy verona but from my short visit i have to say that verona wasn't like what i imagined it to be. coming from milano i was expecting something more homy and cozy with small passages to be explored (which i guess is best found in umbria), but instead i arrived in a much touristic city center with a not so homy scale of a small town. i was hoping verona to be some kind of a soothing buffer before going next to the city for tourists which is venezia, but i guess i failed my mission.
but then it was here in verona i discovered the majestic architecture of carlo scarpa on the restoration of museo di castelvecchio. the geometry, the attention to details, the joint of materials, each millimeters of gaps, all looks very simple yet sophisticated, subtle but elegant. it creates the timeless look that you can always appreciate. in the end, verona might not be the city i would want to visit again, but scarpa's architecture is definitely something i should seek to see more and more.
