the third squares

I just developed a roll of 120mm film from months ago. It's only my third roll since I had the camera with me. I used a FujiPro 160s which has expired five years ago so I actually had no idea how the images would came up or maybe even not coming up at all. Only nine out of twelve frames came up, the other three I'm pretty sure I set the wrong exposure as they were taken almost four months after the rest.

All these photos were taken at tourism spots from my previous trip, I approached total stranger foreigners to have their pictures taken.

First is a group of exchange students at local university coming from China, Japan, and Egypt. I was actually approaching the Japanese girl (the one with the words Over Drive on her jacket sleeve) to have her photo taken when suddenly her friends came along and asked for a group shot.


This one is the cute boy (the photo doesn't do any justice) from Sweden. He couldn't stop moving around playing around. I was ready to get rejection when I asked her mother to take his photo but she kindly approved me. They're actually also with the father and an older sister, forming what looked like a perfect beautiful happy family. Peanuts family, as I called them, because the boy was so tiny and cute like a Peanuts character.

And this is Angelica from the Netherlands (an awful use of light I know). She was all alone in this spacious temple complex, located quite deserted from other tourism objects, sitting nicely under one big tree reading Jane Austen, which I found was very cool of her. 

I'm actually not really happy with the results and I don't know how the photo lab men processed it, the film looks awfully done with the chemical (or water) didn't dry perfectly leaving stains all over and obviously the scanner was dirty. But then again, it's better to have something than nothing at all.

These are the two of twelve frames from my second roll of medium format film which I've actually processed back in August. I so hated the result of this roll I decided to abandoned it and labelled it as "failed". The last couple of hours have been so dull so I flicked through the archive and decided to do some (minor) editing. And right now I kinda like em (I mean I like em right now, I don't know whether I'll still do tomorrow or even 2 hours from now).

I haven't been posting much lately because I can't have an internet connection anymore on the computer where I usually work at, so connecting in other computer, I don't feel like posting anything. It's like writing in a book that isn't yours.

Well I have a lousy start for 2010, specially the first couple of days. It's like waking up in a total confusion and mess. But I'm slowly catching up, trying to figure things up.

Meanwhile, here I'm posting some of my very first test shots of the TLR, 120mm medium format. All SOOC. Taken with the Ricohflex IIIB, on expired fuji ACROS neopan 100 black and white. It's messy since it was my very first hand on this thing, I had no idea how it would come out, there's no exposure meter, and I kept forgetting to wind the film.
