"M. Yoshoto leaned his newspaper against my water glass, and the three of us ate in silence; that is, they ate and I systematically swallowed in silence."
- from short story De Daumier-Smith's Blue Period by J. D. Salinger, in the book Nine Stories
Post this just because I realized I haven't posted anything from Nine Stories since I read it, unlike another two of his books that I've read. I'm always in love with the way he describes a situation. And how he uses the language in form of dialogues makes it so easy to visualize each scene it's almost like you're playing your own version of the movie in your head. If there ever comes a day when they make movie from Salinger's books, that, I assure you, will be the saddest day in the realm of literature.
