Set aside the Before Sunrise series and Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, one of my favorite "romantic" movies has got to be Garden State. I've watched it years ago and have just re-watched it again. Now what could be sweeter than a guy bumped into a complete stranger girl at a hospital waiting room, both screwed up, finding connection to each other in their own shortcomings. Andrew, a struggling actor who has been numb for years by the medication prescribed by his psychiatrist dad, and Sam, a pathological liar who has epilepsy. "Still want to compare fucked up families?", said Andrew to Sam.
"I know it hurts. That's life. If nothing else, It's life. It's real, and sometimes it fuckin' hurts, but it's sort of all we have."
