inked. (ii)

my second ink experience. done in rome last october. this one was actually planned alongside my first one, and supposed to be my first, but then i always knew i wanted to do it in rome, so i waited.

about the process:
* still on my main rule, only wanting a female artist. she was actually not my first choice. i've been wanting to do mine with another artist in trastevere, but she was out of town and i had to do it by then at that time. so after researching for another female artist and having no more time, i went to this lady called mara (i always love the name "mara"). her tattoo style was actually not what the style that i like, but then since i had my own design, i was mainly just looking for the lining skill. it was quite a struggle since it was late at night and her place was rather far from the city center of rome. but upon seeing her, i was so excited because she's gorgeous, looking cool with her sleeves half covered with black sweater. not really nice at the beginning, and she definitely gave me a fuckin' tourist price, but along the process i really enjoyed it with her.

about the tattoo:
* still not gonna post any photo of it anywhere online.
* i specifically wanted to do it in rome and i waited all along until i got to rome, like ten months after i was already in europe, because the tattoo is of a laurel wreath, the interlocking branches and leaves. it was probably originated from greek civilization of the olympics, but also in the ancient rome, it was a symbol of victory, a successful triumph. to me it is a symbol of victory indeed, of so many shits that i've been though in life, so many pains, so many struggles. it is a reminder to me that i have gone through them all, and yet i am still here, always feeling better than i ever was. it is also a reminder that i will have to be able to go through it all, whatever hardship that may come, better days are always yet to come.
