the ethereal

Before I die I want to GO TO ICELAND.

Sigur Rós - Olsen Olsen

Olsen Olsen, I could play it over and over again although the song is 8 minutes long. Photo is screenshot from Heima, a documentary movie about the tour around Iceland of the band Sigur Rós, which I'm dying to watch. A friend has sent me the DVD all the way from Bali weeks ago, but it hasn't arrived here yet thanks to the local postal service.

L'auberge Espagnole

"I don't know why the world turned into a mess like this.
Everything is complicated, badly developed and poorly written.
In former days you only had fields with cows and chicken.
Everything was much easier. In former days things were tangible.
You ate what you cultivated. You made your own clothes and house."

This is some kinda movie review essay (or rants), and will contain spoiler.

L'auberge Espagnole (The Spanish Inn) tells a story about a middle class French guy who applied to Erasmus program studying economy in Spain for a year in order to get a job at French government. He left his girlfriend in France and settled in a rented apartment sharing with a bunch of young people coming from Germany, Italy, England, Denmark, Belgium, and one local Spanish. Then the story developed from there. All the intrigue of living together, sharing a fridge, annoying landlord. Then there are school politics, language barrier, hangovers, relationship shits, affairs, break ups.

Ricohflex The TLR

Look what my boyfriend (see, I put a boy in front of the friend. xD) gave me for my birthday..

Take a look a lil bit closer..

It's marked as "Made In Occupied Japan", which means that it was manufactured between the end of the Second World War and April 18, 1952, when the occupation by American troops ended. This Ricohflex IIIB itself was from 1951.

On the picture is Nikon FE10, which is also a gift from him when I started my very first (film) photography class. Oh, and that brown IKEA blanket is actually his. Haha.

say hello to bali for me

Today I was browsing for some things for office works when I found a link to Gfab, an architectural studio based in Denpasar, Bali. About one and a half years ago when I had my internship in Denpasar with some of my friends. There were several studios located near my office, one of them was Gfab. I remember sometimes we had lunch together with those fellow who worked there. We didn't know each other that well, but somehow seeing their website made me recall again the memories back then. It was such a wonderful time, good environment, great places to hang out on weekends. We had a lot of fights but we had a lot of fun. It's always a good thing when you can still miss something..miss someone..
