animal arithmetic

I've been listening to Jónsi since last year and have been greatly admire all his songs, and of course his band, Sigur Rós. But it's only recently that I streamed through couple of his interviews and boy can I not love this guy even more. To my surprise he looks way much positive than I thought he would be, and he even said himself that he is a positive person. He's openly gay, his right eye is blind, and he's a raw food vegan. He might looks weird, but for me he's weird in a way I feel like I could relate to. The way he often scratch or put his hand on his head or play with something (which he did a lot in some other one on one interviews) doesn't look so right, but I feel like I usually do the same when I talk to other person.

It's amazing listening to the creative process of the album, the whole animal theme and sounds. And if you've already digested his whole album, you'll know what he means when he said his album is about hopes and fears, hopes that make you go for everything you want to do, and the fear in the stomach that keeps you down, not doing what you have to do. And the whole stage concept talk is inspirational. Even when he talks about his nosy neighbor who listens to Justin Timberlake, he sounds so funny and positive, like the kind of person you want to befriended with.

On some the interview with BBC, his bandmate, Kjarri, talks about how the isolated condition of their country Iceland relates to creativity, and he said this, "The creativity definitely comes from this isolation. I think that people just feel the need to create something, painting, writing a book.. which can be annoying sometimes specially, you know, these days, because if you're not doing something, you're nobody. Why, you're not writing a book?" 

I always thought that I was born weird and awkward but this guy here reminds me that there are still a lot of things I have to do. And I have to really channel all the desire to do and to create.

ps. If I ever become a good photographer and being asked of a person who I really want to photograph, it would not be Monica Belucci, like one of my favorite local photographer, but it will be Jónsi. Definitely.
