bratislava is the capital of slovakia. i feel like i need to write it down because every time i mentioned the city, people would ask me, where the heck is bratislava. it's a small city beautifully cut by the river danube. we noticed at last minute that we could actually travel from vienna to bratislava with a boat by the danube, which would be perfect, but the tickets were already sold out, of course.
in this city we stayed in a boat hotel which was really nicely designed (4th and 6th photo). and from our window we could look through the danube with its stunning view to the castle (5th photo). i didn't spend much time in this city due to the worst hangover i have ever had in my entire life, by a bottle of tea! yes tea. tea liquor, that was. and some bottles of honey wine and beers. the kind of fucked up experience that made me swear i'm gonna quit alcohol for good, which, of course only lasted for a couple of days.
but within the tiny tiny amount of time i spent in this city, i have to say bratislava was lovely. i had lovely impressions on the city despite of some of saddest moments i've been being in europe, again due to the drama i mentioned earlier. i remember sitting by the big window in my room in the evening, throwing my eyes far away to the other side of the river, watching the lights flicking on as the sun slowly disappearing, wondering what the heck i was doing there being at the loneliest while the person i cared the most was right there not more than two meters away. but again, i'd say bratislava was lovely. i still remember the feeling being in the sceneries of the winter with the snow and the cold. it felt somehow melancholically intimate.
