eyes that speak only of escape
A sunday morning watercolor therapy. It's been a while. I guess once you stopped, the hardest thing is to find the energy to restart, but once you've started it can feel so good.
It's not my original drawing btw. They say to start you might first copy to then later find your own. I'm not an illustrator and I can't draw something out of my head. So the story is actually I came across the drawing of Emilie Lindsten and thought, "oh I can do that", so I grabbed my pencil and start drawing, then later I added the watercolor inspired by the style of Conrad Roset which I just came across yesterday on instagram. Stina Persson is still my watercolor illustrator hero, which I will never be able to copy, but I will surely continue this kind of drawings, just because it feels good doing.

Nujabes - Reflection Eternal
Random doodle on Sunday morning. Nothin' fancy, just felt like picking up my pen and doodle something inspired by some artworks from Nujabes' music and the music itself.
Not sure if I should explain this and I don't know whether people usually think of something when they draw something abstract, but I did imagine drawing mountains, trees, waves, the sun, flowers, clouds, and bird. Maybe it helps in interpreting.

As for the result, this one is the least I like so far, it looks silly. Haha. But the process I enjoyed the most in this one.
The Great Gatsby is actually the book that took me the longest time to buy because I was searching for a good cover. Well since it's a classic there are a lot of version of it and you can actually buy one quite easily. Just that a cover that looks nice is rare. I didn't get to buy the original classic cover one though.

While my first, The Catcher in The Rye is one of my favorite book, I actually haven't read this one, and maybe never will, considering the thickness of the book. It's just that she mentioned it like a lot. Haha. And I like this classic version of cover by Rockwell Kent.

The cover art is actually by Salinger’s friend E. Michael Mitchell. It depicts an angry red merry-go-round horse against a black-and-white cityscape — and it remains one of the most recognizable book covers of the 20th century: violent, visually arresting and beautiful.

watercolor sunday
So this is kind of how I spent my sunday morning. It wasn't at all great and I'm not satisfied whatsoever with what I came up with, which, looks like a kid's drawing. But I don't really care. What I do know is that it feels good. It's been like nine years since I last intendedly paint and it's been six-seven years since I last used watercolor and a brush. So yeah, this is the first and surely won't be the last.

she sketches
I always have adoration for people who sketch. I love sketching and painting but I guess these days I'm not having enough patience and diligence. Well I used to love doing watercolor painting when I was still at school and I blame my architecture university who apparently never allowed me to do any other activities beside college assignments. Haha.

Yes, it is a book to document your eating habit in a month. The inside cover urges: “Think! Is it food? Who made it? Where did it come from? How did it taste? I don't know what is so hard about sketching, you just have to pull the line as you like it. But still it confuses me...

Been loving the songs of Kings of Convinience and Röyksopp, not knowing that Erlend Øye from Kings of Convinience is actually featured as the vocal on my favorite song of Röyksopp, Remind Me. This time I'm trying another of his project, The Whitest Boy Alive. Check out their website, I heart it very much. Love the sketchy style.
for a little colour
Went to a bookstore the other day and I found this interesting koi watercolour set. It's so compact and easy to use and carry compare to usual watercolours. Well I've been wanting to buy watercolour set, but this one is even more tempting..

I've been playing with photographed image lately. I said playing cos it's totally a trial and error thing. I didn't own sophisticated gadget to get a fantastic effect SOOC (straight out of camera), so basically I just play editing with what I have. Sometimes I thought I should stop my flickr account cos it's way below quality, but in the end, who cares, every genius must have a low beginning anyway. I always believe in the process of everything.
But somehow.. For me I think great sketchers are more adorable than great photographers. Maybe because in most professional photography it involve sophisticated gadgets (which not everyone could afford) and the whole lotta things. Well okay, in sketching it also involve tools, maybe good brand of colouring tools etc. But hey, check out this genius sketcher, Andrea Joseph, who draws with ballpoints! Yes, any kind of ballpoints! Isn't she amazing?

Okay, here' more simple one, but I always love her handstrokes.
